Ongoing Room Selection for Required Students

Residency Requirement

Freshmen and Sophomores (students who have earned 54 or less credits) are required to live on-campus and will be assigned a space. Exemptions to the residency requirement may be made for students who are 21 years of age or older prior to the begining of Fall classes, married, reside with a parent or legal guardian within 20 miles of campus, or have demonstrable financial or other hardship. Students seeking an exemption to the residency requirement should submit a written request for commuting status to Housing Services (HS) documenting one of the above listed exemptions. This exemption request should be submitted by August 1st.

Specifics

Current CUA students who are required to live on-campus, but do not select a space in the Room Selection Process should complete the following:

  • Submit the Guaranteed Waitlist Application and $500 housing prepayment to HS by May 2nd. When an assignment is made, you will receive your assignment via email from Housing Services.
  • If you are required to live on-campus and do not submit an application and the prepayment by May 2nd or receive an approved exemption to the residency requirement, you will be assigned a space. You will be notified of this assignment and applicable charges by August 15th.
  • Students who are unsure if they are required to live on-campus should contact HS for more information.
