Graduate Selection

Graduate student status is determined by your admission into the program.

Who is eligible to participate in Graduate Student Selection?

Graduate and Law students who currently reside on-campus are eligible to submit a Room Selection Intent Form and the $500 prepayment.  If a current or new Graduate student who does not reside on-campus is interested in on-campus housing, he/she should submit a Residence Hall and Dining Services Application.  All new applications will be considered over the course of the summer on a space available basis.

What is the $500 prepayment?

The $500 prepayment is required of all students who wish to participate in Room Selection.  This prepayment will be applied toward room rent charges for Fall 2008.  For more information on the prepayment visit the application page.

Where do Graduate live on the CUA campus?

Graduate residents generally live in Caldwell Hall and Seton Hall; a limited number of spaces in these buildings will be available in the Graduate LotteryCaldwell Hall houses male residents while Seton Hall houses female residents.

As a current Graduate resident am I guaranteed a room on campus?

Only a limited number of spaces in Caldwell Hall and Seton Hall will be available for current Graduate and Law residents.  Participation in the Graduate Room Selection Lottery does not guarantee receiving a space as there are more current Graduate residents eligible to participate in the lottery than there are spaces available.  A participant's chances of receiving a space via the Graduate lottery can only be determined after the Intent Form deadline of February 8.

Can I keep my same assignment for the 2008-2009 academic year?

Since Graduate residents are not guaranteed housing, you are not able to keep your housing assignment for next year.  However, if your lottery number permits you to select the same room, you may do so.

What are the deadlines and important dates for Room Selection?

The deadline for Intent Forms is February 8.  You must have completed this step to be eligible for participation in Room Selection.  For more dates, please click here

How will I receive my lottery number?

Your lottery number will be available on February 20 by logging into MyHousing.  Look for more information on the Housing Services website and in your CUA email regarding the online MyHousing system.

What is MyHousing?

MyHousing is an on-line Room Selection program.  The program can be acessed through Cardinal Station.  On MyHousing you will be able to:

  • See your current room assignment,
  • See your current dining plan,
  • Accept your Residence Hall and Dining Services Agreement,
  • Select roommates for 2008-2009,
  • Select your dining plan for 2008-2009,
  • See your lottery number and selection time, and
  • Select your room for 2008-2009.

How are Lottery Numbers assigned?

Lottery Numbers are randomly assigned to lottery participants.  Your lottery number will determine the selection order.  The lower your lottery number, the greater your chance or being able to select a space.

Do I need to be on-campus to make my selection?

Because Room Selection will be held online, you do not need to be on-campus.  You will be able to select from anywhere there is internet access and you are able to log into Cardinal Station.

When will I receive confirmation of the assignment I selected during Room Selection?

You will receive a confirmation immediately after selecting your space.  This confirmation will be sent to your CUA email account.

What happens if I am not able to select a space during the Graduate Lottery but still want to live on campus?

If you were not able to make a selection during the Graduate Selection Session you will be able to add your name to the Non-Guaranteed Waitlist.  During the summer months, HS may extend offers to Graduates on the Non-Guaranteed Waitlist as Graduate spaces become available.

What other services/support are available to assist me in securing housing?

The Off-Campus Housing Fair will be held April 7, 2008 4-7pm in the Pryz Great Room.  Representatives from various off-campus properties will be available to share information about their listings nad answer your questions.

Housing Services also has an Off-Campus Housing Resource Center available online and in 160 Cardinal Hall with information to assist students in learning more about off-campus housing options.  The online site includes housing listings that may interest you.

What publicity is available regarding Room Selection?

HS tries to reach students through many forums.  For more information and to access these communications visit the main Room Selection page.
