All of the 2009 Room Selection Lotteries have concluded. Students who did not select during their lottery may contact Housing Services to be assigned to a space as vacancies still exist. For more information, please contact Housing Services at cua-housing@cua.edu or (202) 319-5615.

Residence Hall and Dining Services Agreement: The 2009-2010 Residence Hall and Dining Services Agreement is available online. Students must agree to the Agreement and can do so online by going to your MyHousing webpage in Cardinal Station. When you click on the MyHousing icon in Cardinal Station you will be prompted to accept the Agreement before proceeding any further. You may view the Agreement here. It is important to be timely in completing this step as you will not be able to access MyHousing or proceed further in the lotteries until you accept the Agreement.

Welcome to the Housing Services (HS) Room Selection Website for 2009! Room Selection is the process for current CUA residents to apply for an on-campus assignment for the 2009-2010 academic year. The information provided on the following pages will help to clarify the process and provide answers to some frequently asked questions. Resources and information available below include the Six Steps of the Process, Publicity, Dates, Forms, and Rates, Lottery Resources, Special Selection Sessions, and Additional Housing Options for Students.

The university requires all freshman and sophomore undergraduate students to live in campus housing. As is the case on most residential campuses, on-campus housing for junior and senior students is not automatically guaranteed. During the Spring semester, a lottery is conducted where interested junior and senior students may select housing from available rooms for the next academic year. HS also offers guidance to upperclassmen and graduate students seeking off-campus residence.

As you prepare your housing options for the selection process, please keep in mind the spaces that will be available within your lottery. Unfortunately, not everyone will be able to select his/her first preference. In addition, due to the many fluid variables within the Selection Process, including student roommate and room type preference, Housing Services is unable to predict your chances for obtaining a particular type of space. Housing Services recommends that you or your group have at least five housing options. This will be especially important for Juniors and Seniors. In addition, if your preferred spaces are within suites or apartments, you should pre-determine who will live in each bedroom (single room or double room) in order to make your selection process seamless.

The Six Steps of the Room Selection Process

  1. Complete a Room Selection Intent Form available in Housing Services, located in 160 Cardinal Hall, or in your Residence Hall Office (RHO). Forms are currently available.
  2. Submit your Intent Form and $500 Prepayment to HS. Initially, a deadline of February 13th was advertised, but Housing Services will continue to accept Intent Forms and $500 Prepayments through the various lotteries. If the lottery that is most appropriate to you has passed, you may submit a Housing Application form and receive an assignment or be placed on a waiting list. In addition submit a Specialty Housing application if you are interested in the Upperclass Residential College or Honors Housing programs and a Housing Accommodation Request Form if you are requesting a housing accommodation.
  3. Ensure your financial committments to the University are in good standing.
  4. Log into MyHousing beginning February 25, 2009 to obtain your lottery number and selection time.

  5. Accept the Residence Hall and Dining Services Agreement and select your roommates on MyHousing prior to your selection time.
  6. Participate in the appropriate selection session to select your assignment.
