How to Check-Out

If you are a resident returning to housing in the spring, you should complete the Resident Checkout Sheet attached to your door. Also, please remember to take any items you may need (i.e. medications, passport, etc) with you as you will not have access to your room or building over the Christmas Break. Please also make sure to do the following:

  • Unplug personal appliances
  • Deforst and empty personal refrigerators
  • Clean your room
  • Empty the trash
  • Turn off faucets
  • Close and lock all doors and windows
  • Turn off lights
  • Turn down the heat to 55 degrees or a low setting
  • Report all maintenance requests to http://qbic.cua.edu
  • If there is a vacancy in your room or apartment, please make sure that the space is ready for a new resident to move in. There should be an open bed, dresser, desk, and closet available for that person. Housing Services will be making assignments over the Christmas Break and will consider all vacancies.
  • If you are checking out of housing due to Graduation or participation in a Study Abroad program, you will need to meet with your Resident Assistant to complete your RCR and turn your keys in. Please remember that your check-out is not complete until you return your keys to your RHO.

Check Out Procedures for Gibbons Hall Residents

All residents in Gibbons Hall will be required to complete a checkout appointment with a resident assistant. Please schedule this appointment by talking to your RA, signing up on his/her door, or by visiting the RHO. The following must be completed to properly check out of your room:

1. Sign up for a checkout appointment with your RA or at the RHO.

2. Be sure that all of your items are packed in boxes and labeled appropriately before your checkout appointment begins.

3. Clean your room so that it is returned to CUA in the same condition it was received.

4. Complete the Room Inventory Sheet with your RA to log items that will be moved by Office Movers Inc. A copy will be provided to you.

5. Using the Room Condition Report originally completed at Move-In, inspect each item listed and note any damages.

6. Lock the room after the inspection (or when leaving the room for the last time) is complete and do not re-enter the room without permission.
