Residence Hall Staff

Housing Services and Residence Life are proud to work with a diverse group of motivated and well-qualified professional and student staff within the residence halls.  These individuals work closely together to facilitate the academic, personal, and social success of the CUA on-campus community.

Resident Assistants (RA)

The staff member with whom residents have the most interaction with is their Resident Assistant (RA).  The primary responsibility of the RA is to foster a sense of community among the residents and to promote a balanced, responsible, and respectable atmosphere that is safe, friendly, and supportive.  RAs will:

  • Assist residents with their adjustment to campus and community living.
  • Provide leadership for residential activities and encourage residents to get involved in the CUA community.
  • Foster an understanding of diversity and community development.
  • Direct residents to the appropriate individual or office when they have questions.
  • Regularly relay important information from Housing and Residential Services.
  • Help residents learn to accept responsibility for self and personal actions.
  • Work with students to develop a sense of respect for self, others and property.

Area Coordinators

Area Coordinators (AC) are full-time professional staff members responsible for the day-to-day operations of the residential communities. These responsibilities include promoting a community living environment that enhances a student’s residential living experience, supervising hall staff, coordinating building programs, and managing administrative matters.  Each AC lives in a residence hall on campus and has responsibility for a specific area of campus with a population ranging from 250 to 570 residents.

Student Ministry Staff: The House and Resident Ministers

Resident Ministers play an integral role in spiritual life on campus and in the residence halls.  In cooperation with Housing Services and Residence Life, each area of campus is served by either a House member or Resident Minister who leads Small Faith Community meetings, offers opportunities for discussion on issues of faith, provides regular opportunities for fellowship, and extends personal support to the residents in their area.  The student ministers also help organize university-wide ministry events, serve on retreat teams, and strive to act as Gospel witnesses to our students and staff.  House members are dedicated primarily to serving the freshmen on campus and offer hospitality in their “Christian Community” of the House itself, while the Resident Ministers serve the upper-class populations by living among their peers in primarily upper-class buildings.
