Opus Hall Construction

Rising to New Heights

On Monday, March 12, 2007 CUA broke ground on a new $25 million dollar state-of-the-art residential facility. The seven-story Opus Hall, slated for completion by 2009, will house approximately 400 students to accommodate an increase in undergraduate enrollment. Board of Trustee member Neil Rauenhorst, his wife, Becky, and the Opus Group provided a $3 million gift for the project, the remainder is financed through a bond sale.

This building is the first phase of a project that will provide the University with a 900-bed residence hall complex to be located in the northeast sector of the main campus, fronting John McCormack Road on the east and bordered by the Taylor Street ramp on the north. The modern design reflects the university's "collegiate gothic" architecture and features a glass entry tower with social space on floors two through seven. On each side of the tower will be residential quarters with high-tech modern suites. Opus Hall will include a landscaped plaza and is slated for completion in 2009.
