The Catholic University of America

Waitlist Information

The university requires all first-year and sophomore undergraduate students to live in campus housing. As is the case on most residential campuses, on-campus housing for junior and senior students is not automatically guaranteed. However, each year Housing Services (HS) reviews the demand for campus housing and initiates plans accordingly. HS also offers guidance to upperclass students seeking off-campus residence

Junior/Senior Waitlist

Eligibility

Participants in the Junior/Senior Lottery who were not able to select a space or eligible upperclass students who did not submit their intent and housing deposit by the February 10, 2012 deadline are eligible for the Junior/Senior Waitlist.

Availability

Students who did not submit their intent and housing deposit by the February 10, 2012 deadline should complete the Residence Hall and Dining Services Application. The signed copy should be returned to Housing Services. Applications will be accepted beginning Monday, February 13, 2012.

Junior and Senior students who submitted their intent and housing deposit by the deadline will be contacted at the conclusion of the Junior/Senior Lottery if a space has not been selected. If the student is interested in being placed on the Junior/Senior Waitlist s/he will be prioritized at the top of the waitlist based on his/her lottery number.

Additional Information

Undergraduate junior and senior students who are on the waitlist, should keep in mind the following:

  • First-year students and rising sophomores are required to live on-campus and will be assigned spaces before other students.
  • First priority will be given to students who submitted the intent and housing deposit by February 10, 2012, and were not able to select a space in the lottery. These students will be prioritized by lottery number.
  • Students who were not issued a lottery number will be prioritized after students that participated in the lottery. These students will be prioritized by the date the Application is received by Housing Services.
  • An assignment will be made using the preferences listed on the Application. However, it is possible that an assignment may not be available within those preferences. Students will receive 3 business days in which to accept the offered space. If they do not accept the space offered, they will have the opportunity to receive a second offer when another space becomes available. If they decline the second offer, they will be removed from the waitlist.
  • Should a student wish to request cancellation of an assignment, the student will need to do so in accordance with the cancellation policy in the Agreement. The $500 Housing Cancellation Fee will be charged if the request is approved.
  • Throughout the late spring and summer, assignments will be made on a space available basis.
  • Off Campus Housing Resources are also available here.

Sophomore Waitlist

Eligibility

Students required to live on-campus who did not submit their intent and housing deposit by the conclusion of the Sophomore Lottery are eligible for the Sophomore Waitlist.

Availability

If you will have less than 55 credits at the conclusion of the Spring semester, you will be required to live on campus next year. Students who did not submit their intent and deposit by the February 10, 2012 deadline should still pay the $500 housing deposit and complete the Room Selection Intent in MyHousing. Late submissions will receive a lottery number, but the lottery number will be generated after the lottery numbers for all sophomores who submitted their intent and deposit before the deadline.

After the Sophomore Lottery ends students who have not yet submitted their intent and deposit should complete the Residence Hall and Dining Services Application. The signed copy should be returned to Housing Services. Applications will be accepted beginning Friday, March 16, 2012.

Students who participate in the Sophomore Lottery and do not select a space will be contacted at the conclusion of the lottery. These students will be assigned to available vacancies or placed on the waitlist if vacancies are not currently available.

Additional Information

Once the Residence Hall and Dining Services Application is submitted, students should keep in mind the following:

  • An assignment for the 2012-13 academic year is guaranteed.
  •  If not already done so, the student will be prompted to accept the Residence Hall and Dining Services Agreement before an assignment is made.
  • Should the student wish to cancel the Sophomore Waitlist Application, it will need to be done in accordance with the cancellation policy in the Agreement. The $500 Housing Cancellation Fee will be charged.*
  • Students who submitted the intent and housing deposit by February 10, 2012, therefore receiving a lottery number, will receive the highest priority on the waitlist based on their lottery number. Students who were not issued a lottery number will be prioritized by the date the Residence Hall and Dining Services Application is received.
  • An assignment will be made using the preferences listed on the application. However, it is possible that assignment may not be within the preferences.
  • Throughout the late spring and summer, assignments will be made on a space available basis.

*In accordance with university policy, all first and second year students are required to live on campus. Any second year student returning to The Catholic University of America is unable to cancel their Sophomore Waitlist Application.
